The Alfa Fellowship programme, which provides internships for US specialists in Russia, was started in 2004 and is one the Bank’s initiatives aimed at promoting and reinforcing social and cultural relations between Russia and the USA. The Programme provides participants with the opportunity to undergo training at private companies, state and public institutions in Russia.
We strongly believe that the Alfa Fellowship programme will assist a new generation of Americans to adapt to the realities of the new Russia. The programme is coordinated by an Advisory Board headed by Petr Aven, President of Alfa-Bank. Members of the Advisory Board include Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs; Yevgeni Yasin, Rector of the Higher School of Economics; Vladimir Pozner, President of the Russian TV Academy, and others.
Participants of the programme undergo training at institutions like the Higher School of Economics, the Expert Institute at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Carnegie Endowment, Echo Moskvy radio station, Expert magazine, Alfa Capital, TNK-BP, INDEM Foundation, and others.
In the USA, the Alfa Fellowship programme is coordinated by CDS International, Inc., which is also involved in selecting the candidates. On the Russian side, the programme is overseen by the Centre for International Fellowships.
Apart from training courses for participants, there are workshops in Moscow and trips to the regions. We would like to thank the Administrations of Arkhangelsk, Novgorod, Novorossiysk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Cheboksary, and Irkutsk for their warm welcome given to programme participants while they were undergoing training.
