MOSCOW, Oct 3 (Reuters) — Russia’s Alfa-Bank expects to borrow around $1.5 billion on international financial markets in 2007, mainly to fund double-digit growth in its loan portfolio, its chief financial officer Andrew Baxter said on Tuesday.

Baxter told Reuters in a telephone interview that Alfa-Bank’s loan portfolio had grown by 38 percent in the first six months of 2006, compared to 39.6 percent in 2005, although he said the growth rate in 2007 would be not as fast as 2006.

Alfa-Bank, which has just launched a $400 million Eurobond and also raised a $220 million syndicated loan in September, may tap financial markets in November or December for another syndicated loan worth around $200 million to roll over a one-year facility, Baxter said.
